A few questions to see whether this is a good fit.
Are you in crisis right now?
This practice can’t respond fast enough for an emergency. Call or text 988, or call 911. Lines for specific professions are listed further down this page.
Is this for you, and are you 18 or older?
I work with the person themselves, so they’d need to reach out. If their situation is affecting your own life, you’re welcome to continue for yourself.
I work with adults. For someone under 18, a pediatrician or the Psychology Today directory is the place to start.
Where are you located?
What are you looking for?
Therapy isn’t available outside Michigan and Ohio. Coaching is available anywhere. If treatment is what you’re looking for, the Psychology Today directory is the place to find a therapist where you live.
What are you looking for?
Is any of this connected to a custody dispute, court-ordered treatment, or a legal case?
Is a letter or an evaluation the main thing you need? For example, an emotional support animal letter, FMLA or disability paperwork, an FAA or security clearance evaluation, or a fitness-for-duty clearance.
Individual therapy, or couples or family therapy?
How do you plan to pay?
Self-pay sessions come with a superbill you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement.
In person in Grand Rapids, or telehealth?
Both run through Counseling Center of West Michigan, which handles intake, scheduling, and billing for insurance. Same clinician either way. Book there; the plans I’m in network with are listed in the FAQ.
In Ohio, sessions here are self-pay, with a superbill you can submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement.
Coaching isn’t a substitute for mental health treatment. Are you looking for treatment right now?
Thanks for looking. From your answers, this practice isn’t the right fit, and I’d rather say so now than after you’ve waited on me. The Psychology Today directory lets you filter by state, insurance, and specialty. If you’re in crisis, call or text 988.
Got it. Thank you.
I’ll reach out within 48 hours. If you haven’t heard from me by then, send it again.
If you are in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911.
Use this form for a question before you reach out, for training, consulting, or contract work, or for a privacy or accessibility request. Please leave health details out; this isn’t a secure channel.
Got it.
I read these myself and reply within a week.
Or email directly: . Email isn’t a secure channel either, so keep health details for a call.
